Finally our house plans have been approved by the council and we can get this show on the road! The town planning folks have been sitting on these for almost a year (in fact only 4 days shy of a year) and we were beginning to think it was never going to happen.

Punk is Back! Dog Coat No.2

Poor Solo deserved his own macho man coat after having to endure the indignities of posing with the uber-girly cupcake themed one. I decided on a "punk" theme for him, with striking red and black, bright red quilting stitches, strappy bits and bright silver button highlights.

I'm exceptionally happy with how this one turned out. Oddly, he was a little more sober while posing with this one - perhaps he prefers the pink one afterall?

Introducing "Snazzy Paws" Dog Coats

My husband and I have been living in Hobart, Tasmania with my mother while we wait for our house to be built in Melbourne (as of this point the council is still sitting on the plans, over a year later!) I’ve been getting mum to teach me how to sew while we are here. I’ve decided sewing clothing for myself is fairly boring, however I’ve discovered a love for making original and quirky dog coats – patchworked, appliqued and quilted.

Here’s one of my puppies showing off the first one I’ve made, very girly and cupcake themed. The cupcake is applique with satin stitch around the edges – boy I sweated bricks trying not to screw up the stitch while using black thread, as it was my first ever attempt at satin stitch. Mum tried to talk me out of using it because it can go badly wrong when learning but I thought what the hell, I’ll give it a shot.

The model is Solo, a little boy Chinese Crested that doesn't look too unhappy at wearing pink!

Smell that? Ahhh.. that fresh blog smell - nothing else like it! I've decided to consolidate several different blogs into one super-blog with all my stuff in one easy to maintain place.
